Supported images

Use still JPG/JPEG or PNG files. PNG keeps transparency. HEIC/HEIF, animated images, SVG, RAW and video are not supported; export a JPG or PNG copy first. Damaged or unsupported files are rejected while valid images stay available.

Up to 20 MiB per image, 24 megapixels per original and output, and 256 MiB of source files per batch, with at most 1,000 images. Large canvases or outputs may need smaller dimensions on your device. Encoded images are limited to 24 MiB; portable ZIP downloads split into parts of up to 32 MiB.

Editing and downloads

Which images will change?

This image edits the previewed image. Selected images edits the checked images. Batch defaults supplies settings for this batch and later additions; custom image settings stay in place until you reset them.

Newly added images start checked. Clicking a thumbnail previews it. Select none removes selection without removing the preview or your work.

Apply, compare and enlarge

Changes wait for Apply. Cancel returns to your applied settings. Download is unavailable while changes need applying or correcting.

Width, height, percentage and fit keep proportions. Exact canvas adds a background around the image; stretch deliberately changes proportions; crop fills the chosen shape. Enlargement needs your explicit choice and adds pixels without recovering detail.

Fit makes a small result easier to inspect. Display zoom never changes downloaded dimensions. Compare Original and Result, or choose Inspect actual detail to examine a bounded area at 100%.

Download again after editing

Apply the new edit, then choose Download image or Download selected as ZIP. If an earlier download copy remains, confirm its browser download has finished before replacing that retry copy.

Download same file again repeats the earlier frozen output. It does not apply new edits. Save to file, where available, lets you choose a destination; otherwise use Download and check your browser’s downloads.

JPEG quality is adjustable from 10–100%, starting at 92%. PNG has no lossy-quality slider. JPEG needs a solid or blurred background for an exact canvas that would otherwise be transparent. The file’s size is known after it is prepared.

What does each clear action do?

Clear previews releases the large previews and keeps thumbnails, images and edits. Clear batch removes current images and edits after confirmation. Release download removes only the temporary retry copy.

Clear history removes saved names and settings, keeping active images, your guest name and continuing batch numbers. Reset local data in guest settings clears saved history and presets, creates a new guest name and starts future batch numbers at 01. The current batch/name stays until you clear it separately. None of these actions deletes files already saved on your device.

Photos stay in your browser

PicGhost processes images locally. It does not upload your photos or save photo projects. Refreshing or closing this tab clears the temporary workspace, so download the copies you want to keep first.

Your browser can retain your guest name, batch counter, saved presets and recent names/settings/export records. These do not contain photos or saved outputs. Browser storage can be cleared or unavailable; it is not a backup. Local settings explains each reset before you confirm it.

Colours and encoding depend on the browser. Professional colour/HDR preservation is not promised. Camera metadata is not deliberately copied into exports.

Browser and device checks

This version is a review candidate. Browser checks help verify image output and recovery, but physical-phone, screen-reader and native save-dialog acceptance is still being completed. If a large image fails, try a smaller JPG/PNG copy or a smaller output; other accepted images remain available.

Keyboard controls support scope, framing, preview panning and dialogs. Use Escape to close expanded views and return to their button. An app update never reloads an active workspace automatically: save your work before choosing a reload.
